Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2026

Welcome to Rukio. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. We recommend reading them carefully before using any feature of the application.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, accessing, or using Rukio in any way, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms of Service in their entirety. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not use the platform.

These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Rukio. We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time, and will notify you of changes through the application or by email.

2. Description of Service

Rukio is an app for running a household. These are its sections:

  • Transactions: expenses and income, split between members, with the month's balance.
  • Budgets: how much the household wants to spend a month per category, with a heads-up as you approach it.
  • Goals: saving together toward something, with manual or automatic contributions.
  • To-dos: tasks and shopping lists, with an owner and a due date.
  • Plans: outings, trips, gatherings and decisions, with voting and who-brings-what.
  • Meals: the week's menu, recipes and grocery list, respecting allergies and preferences.
  • Care: scheduled medication, medical check-ups, documents and contacts for each person or pet.
  • Gifts: wish lists, reservations hidden from the recipient, and secret santa.
  • Household: members, roles, invitations and settings.
  • Ruka: the built-in AI assistant, who talks with you and performs actions in those sections after you confirm.

Rukio is offered as available at any given time. Some features may be under development.

3. User Accounts & Family Groups

To use Rukio you must create an account with truthful, up-to-date information. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure.

Rukio is organized into households. A household starts with one person and grows as they invite others. Inside a household there are four roles:

  • Administrator: manages the whole household — invitations, members, settings and all financial data.
  • Member: takes part in the household's money, logs expenses and income, and sees budgets and goals.
  • Young: logs their own expenses and sees how much they can spend a month, but not the household income or anyone else's spending.
  • Pet: an account-less profile, to track their care and expenses.

Profiles for minors without an account and for pets are created and managed by an adult in the household. Minors with their own account must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use Rukio.

Whoever administers the household is responsible for managing invitations and the other members' permissions.

4. Ruka AI Assistant

Ruka is the AI assistant built into Rukio. She uses your household's data to talk with you, answer questions and perform actions inside the app.

It's important to understand that: - Ruka proposes and waits for your confirmation before creating, changing or deleting anything. Nothing runs without your approval. - Her suggestions are guidance, not financial, legal or medical advice of any kind. - She can remind you of medication doses and times, but does not recommend treatments. - She uses your household's data (transactions, budgets, goals, to-dos, meals, care and previous conversations) to personalize her answers. - Conversations are processed through third-party AI services to generate the replies. - If you send a photo or a document (a receipt, a utility bill, a lab result), the file travels to Anthropic for Ruka to read, is processed to extract the data, and is not stored. Whatever Ruka proposes saving from it, you confirm. - If you use voice dictation or ask Ruka to read a message aloud, the corresponding audio is processed through third-party services. - You should not make important decisions based solely on Ruka's suggestions.

5. Financial Data

Rukio allows you to record and manage your family's financial information, including transactions, budgets, and savings goals.

Please note that: - Rukio is not a financial institution, bank, or regulated entity. We do not process banking transactions or manage real money. - You are solely responsible for the accuracy and truthfulness of the financial data you enter into the platform. - Reports, projections, and analyses generated by Rukio are based exclusively on the data you provide and should not be considered professional financial advice. - We recommend periodically verifying that your records in Rukio match your bank statements.

6. Acceptable Use

By using Rukio, you agree to: - Not use the platform for illegal, fraudulent activities or activities that infringe on the rights of others. - Not attempt to access data from other households without authorization. - Not reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the application. - Not use automated systems to access the platform in bulk. - Not share offensive, defamatory content or content that violates the privacy of others through the platform. - Maintain the confidentiality of your login credentials.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these conditions.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on Rukio, including but not limited to its design, source code, logos, text, graphics, user interfaces, and the Ruka assistant, is the exclusive property of Rukio and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

The data you enter into Rukio (transactions, lists, family information) belongs to you. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, and revocable license to use the platform in accordance with these terms.

No rights to Rukio's intellectual property are granted beyond what is expressly stated in these terms.

8. Limitation of Liability & Disclaimers

Rukio is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

To the maximum extent permitted by law: - We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. - We are not liable for financial decisions made based on information provided by Rukio or Ruka. - We are not responsible for data loss caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control. - Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you have paid for the service in the preceding 12 months. - We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you.
